Lightning-Avalanche Total and Lehkonen Lead Friday's 12-Game Card
The model projects two games a half-goal over the market's 6.0 total, with Colorado's Artturi Lehkonen offering the cleanest goal prop value at +249.
The Card
Twelve games Friday night, and the model finds its best edges where the market seems skittish about offense. Both featured games—Montreal at Chicago and Tampa Bay at Colorado—closed at 6.0 totals despite our projection of 6.5 in each. That half-goal gap translates to 10.1% EV on the Lightning-Avalanche over and 9.6% on the Canadiens-Blackhawks over, the two cleanest game-total plays on the board.
The player-prop landscape is littered with long-shot defenseman goals (Manson, Carrier, McDonagh all at +1500 or longer), but the model's favorite individual bet is Colorado winger Artturi Lehkonen at +249. He's scored in three of his last five, averaging 0.8 goals per game over his last ten, and the model gives him a 32.8% chance to find the net—four percentage points higher than the book's implied 28.7%. It's rare to find double-digit EV on a prop this short, and Lehkonen's current form supports the edge.
TB/COL Over 6
Model: 6.5 | Line: 6.0 | Model Win%: 57.4% | Implied: 52.4% | EV: +9.6%
Tampa Bay (7-2-0) and Colorado (5-4-1) have combined for 6.5 goals per game in our simulation, and both offenses are clicking. The Lightning just put up six in Vegas and have scored at least four in four of their last five. The Avalanche project for 3.5 goals at home, and while their recent results are mixed (three wins in their last five, two losses decided by one goal), they've averaged 3.2 goals per game over that stretch.
Recent form: The model's over call has hit in 50% of the last 10 and 35% of the last 20 for this type of game environment. Colorado's last head-to-head meeting isn't in the data, but both teams' L5 results suggest offense: Tampa Bay 4.6 goals per game, Colorado 3.0. Anthony Cirelli is day-to-day for the Lightning, and Colorado is without Nicolas Roy and Zachary L'Heureux, but neither absence changes the model's 6.5 projection. The line moved up one full goal from open, which means early money agreed with our read.
Best odds: -110 at Unibet.
Artturi Lehkonen 1+ Goals
Model Probability: 32.8% | Implied: 28.7% | Edge: +4.2% | EV: +14.5%
Lehkonen has been Colorado's most consistent finisher over the past two weeks, scoring five goals in his last five games (two against the Islanders, one each against Pittsburgh and Seattle). His L10 average is 0.8 goals per game, and the model's 50% hit rate over that span backs the recent surge. He's on a one-game over streak after going scoreless in one game, but the underlying projection—0.5 goals tonight—is nearly twice the market's implied 0.29.
Tampa Bay's defense has been leaky on the road (four goals allowed at the Rangers, three at the Islanders before that), and Lehkonen's current deployment should put him in high-danger areas all night. The model gives him better than a 1-in-3 chance to score, which makes +249 a clean value proposition. The line hasn't moved despite the edge, which suggests the books haven't yet adjusted to his hot streak.
Best odds: +249 at Underdog.
MTL/CHI Over 6
Model: 6.5 | Line: 6.0 | Model Win%: 57.4% | Implied: 52.2% | EV: +10.1%
Montreal projects for 3.5 goals even without Nick Suzuki (out) and with Mike Matheson (day-to-day). The Canadiens have scored at least four in three of their last five—two shootout wins and an overtime victory over Buffalo in that span—and Chicago's defense has allowed 3.6 goals per game over their last five contests. The Blackhawks are 3-6-0 and coming off a 4-1 loss at the Islanders, but they put up five against Carolina and five against Pittsburgh in the two games before that.
Recent form: The model's over call here mirrors the Tampa Bay-Colorado projection, and while Montreal's offense has been inconsistent (they scored one in regulation against Detroit, five against Washington), the L10 hit rate of 0% for this exact game script suggests we're buying low on a contrarian total. Chicago's home/road splits aren't in the data, but Bowen Byram's day-to-day status shouldn't move the needle on a 6.5 projection. The line hasn't moved from open, which means the market disagrees. That's fine—we'll take the half-goal of value.
Best odds: -109 at Unibet.
How We'd Play It
Straight bets on both totals at standard juice, one unit each. Lehkonen at +249 is worth a half-unit to one unit depending on your risk tolerance—14.5% EV on a prop with real recent form is rare enough to warrant a standalone ticket. If you want to get creative, a small two-leg parlay (both overs) pays roughly +264, but the correlation between the two games is zero, so you're just compounding independent edges. We'd rather take the singles and pocket the value without the added risk.
What would make us pass: if Lehkonen's line shortened to +200 or less, the EV evaporates. If either total moved to 6.5, we'd need to re-run the numbers—right now, the half-goal cushion is the entire edge. And if you're already heavy on hockey this week, there's no shame in sitting Friday out. Twelve games means twelve opportunities to get chopped up by variance. These three plays are clean, but they're not mortgages.
